About the project

Germia Concert Hall

Prishtina, Kosovo · Concert Hall · 2022
Concert Hall Gërmia is a unique opportunity for Prishtina to revive a notable building from the past with a fresh contemporary vision that clearly looks to the future.
This key conceptual principle of the architectural intervention preserves the facade of the 1970s building as a historical trace for future generations, reintroducing the original geometries of its most significant elements into the new design.
The new building extensions, incorporating entirely new and important functions, also look toward the future, interpreting the integration of the original facade with transparent glass modules inspired by the geometry of the aluminum pattern, while respecting the original design.
The transition between two epochs is expressed as a fusion in the proposal. Above all, our intervention is urban, providing the most direct connection between the southwest and northeast areas of the city center, while passing through the city’s most important public space, “Skanderbeg” Square. Almost all previously atrophied spaces are activated, and the Concert Hall Gërmia building itself becomes the protagonist of the urban landscape, offering a 360° experience and the full prominence that such a building deserves.
